As stated by the Federal Reserve, appraisal reviews "should find out whether the appraisal or evaluation is well-suited for the transaction, the risk of the transaction, and whether the manners by which the collateral valuation is collected ensures independence and quality." In addition, they "should demonstrate whether the appraisal or evaluation report is even with the engagement letter, which gives an account of the scope of the appraisal assignment." The Federal Reserve also notes that "some institutions supplement typical reviews with post-funding evaluations of appraisal quality for a few of their higher-risk or greater-value transactions as a method to aid in revealing valuation complications."
